Exposition Light Rail

This is the most recent extension of the 75-station Metro Rail system. The 9.6 mile line extending along the MTA-owned Exposition Right-of-Way from Downtown LA to Culver City. The project was primarily on-grade. While serving a need for transit, the project was also envisioned as a parkway with a strong focus on landscape.

As Senior Designer, Mike led the Landscape architecture team through this intense collaborative effort between landscape architecture, engineering and art. The team’s vision for the corridor was to weave the various functions and aesthetics of the Light Rail with the functions and aesthetics of the communities it travels through.  The result was a highly innovative, integrated and sustainable solution.  The landscape concept was completed for the Preliminary Engineering Design Package.
