Four Seasons Aviara

Overlooking the Batiquitos Lagoon and hugging the Pacific Ocean, the world-class destination resort hotel Four Seasons Aviara required a seamless outdoor environment that would harmonize with the natural surroundings, respecting the balance between people and nature while providing a variety of recreational amenities.

As Senior Designer, Mike's goal was to respect the resorts impressive Spanish Colonial architecture which influenced the Mediterranean plant palette chosen for the landscape, as well as providing for a variety of informal and formal  spaces. These outdoor rooms provide both recreational and gathering/event uses. Surrounded by elegant chaise lounges, cabanas and lush colorful plantings, the pool area contains a large pool, jacuzzi, swim-up bar and grill and adjoining children’s water playground. Elegant water features accent the hotel entry and large formal courtyard.

Landscape architectural services included master planning, schematic design, construction documents, and construction observation for the hardscape, site furnishings, landscape lighting, irrigation and planting elements.
